GENERIC NAME(S): Lisinopril-Hydrochlorothiazide

Uses

Zestoretic is used to treat high blood pressure. Reducing hypertension helps in preventing stroke, heart attack and kidney problems. This product includes two drugs: Lisinopril and Hydrochlorothiazide. Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor and works by giving rest to the blood vessels so that the blood flows more easily. Hydrochlorothiazide is a “water table” (diuretic) which causes you to make more urine, which helps your body get rid of excess salt and water.
This product is used when a drug is not controlling your blood pressure. Your doctor can direct you to take personal medicines first, and then you can switch to this combination product. Do not continue to take personal medicines (Lisinopril and / or Hydrochlorothiazide) after starting this drug.

How To Use Zestoretic

If you start taking Zestoretic and you get refills every time, before you are available from your pharmacist, please read the Patient Information Letter. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Take this medicine with or without mouth directed by your doctor, usually once in the morning. If this medicine causes you to urinate more frequently, it is best to take it at least 4 hours before your sleeping so that you can get ready to urinate.
If you consume some medicines to reduce your cholesterol (bile acid-binding resins such as cholestyramine or colestipol), then take these medicines at least 4 hours before or at least 4 to 6 hours prior to taking Lisinopril / Hydrochlorothiazide. .

Use Zestoretic regularly to get the most benefit. To help you remember, take it at the same time every day. Keep taking this medication even if you feel OK. Most people with high blood pressure do not feel sick.

Side Effects

Precautions

Before taking Zestoretic, tell your doctor or pharmacist whether you are allergic to lisinopril or hydrochlorothiazide; Or other ACE inhibitors (such as captoprilbenazepril); Or if you have any other allergens.
