Cephalexin

Description
Cephalexin is a broad spectrum antibiotic used to treat different types of bacterial infections. It is used to treat skin, ear, bone and urinary tract infections. Use caution if you have any known disease. If you are allergic to the cephalosporins group of penicillin and antibiotics, do not take this medicine.
Uses

Ear Infection (Otitis Media)
Cephalexin is used in the treatment of Otitis Media which is an ear infection caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Moraxella. -
Pharyngitis
Cephalexin is used in the treatment of Pharyngitis which is an inflammation of Pharynx caused by group A Streptococcus. -
Cystitis
Cephalexin is used in the treatment of Cystitis which is a bladder infection caused by E.coli, Pseudomonas Aeruginosa, Enterococci and Klebsiella pneumoniae. -
Pyelonephritis
Cephalexin is used in the treatment of Pyelonephritis which is a type of kidney infection caused by E.coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterococci and Klebsiella pneumoniae. -
Osteomyelitis
Cephalexin is used in the treatment of Osteomyelitis which is a bone infection caused by Staphylococcus aureus.
Side Effects

Precautions
Pregnancy – Cephalexin should be taken only during pregnancy, if it is clearly needed under the supervision of the doctor.
Breastfeeding – This drug is known to emit human breast milk. This should be taken only when the doctor is clearly required under the supervision. Monitoring of undesired effects like diarrhea or thrush is necessary.

General warning
Allergy – If you are allergic to penicillin or beta-lactam antibiotics such as penicillin and cephalosporin, avoid this. If you experience any allergic symptoms such as rash, itching, nausea or vomiting, lips, hands and feet, then immediately seek medical attention.
Clostridium difficile-associated Diarrhea – If you experience severe diarrhea after getting syruplexine. Antibiotic therapy will cause an imbalance in the general microbial flora in the large intestine, which is caused by Clostridium difficile – bacteria which causes diarrhea.
Impaired kidney function – Use with caution if you have a kidney disease. Appropriate dosage adjustments should be done on the basis of CrCl or eGFR.
Impaired liver function – Cephalexin and other cephalosporins are due to liver diseases and hepatitis and Cholestatic jaundice. If you have a risk of liver disease, use it carefully. The appropriate dosage adjustment has to be done based on clinical status.
Drug- resistance – sufficient evidence or a bacterial infection should be avoided without the use of Cephalexin. Irrational dosage may fail to provide benefits and may even cause poisoning. It can also increase the risk of developing bacteria, which is drug resistant.

Disease interactions
Colitis
If you experience diarrhea, abdominal pain and blood in the stool after taking Cephalexin, then avoid it. If you have a gastrointestinal disease, inform the doctor. Drink enough water to prevent dehydration.
Seizure
If you have a seizure disorder or a family history of the tour, use it with caution. Close the seizure if it is due to Cephalexin. Start with proper anticonvulsant drug recovery, medical indications have been given.
Dosage
Missed Dose
The missed dose should be taken as soon as possible. If you have already had a prescribed dose, it would be advisable to leave the missed dose.
Over Dose
