GENERIC NAME(S): Ampicillin
Uses
Ampicillin, sold under the brand name Principen among others. Principen is used to treat various types of bacterial infections. It is a penicillin-type antibiotic. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria.
This antibiotic only treats bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infection (such as common cold, flu). It is not necessary to use any antibiotic when it does not work for future transition.
How to use Principen Capsule
Take this medication normally from mouth 4 times a day (every 6 hours), or by your doctor. Take Principen with an empty stomach (1 hour before meals or 2 hours after meals) with a full glass of water. Drink lots of fluid while using this drug unless your doctor tells you otherwise.
